I won’t resign – Sheriff replies Makarfi

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has maintained that he won’t resign as suggested by the Ahmed Makarfi’s faction of PDP.

Addressing journalists in Agbor, Delta State after a meeting with his National Deputy Chairman, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, on Friday, the former Borno State governor said though he wants PDP to be at peace, but he won’t resign.

Sheriff said, “I can’t resign. I want the PDP to be at peace, but the very man who is talking of resignation today, if I resign will it not be so that he can destroy the PDP? There is no aircraft without a Pilot. There is no ship without a Captain.

“Anybody who tells the Captain of a ship to go down wants the ship to capsize. We don’t want PDP to capsize. PDP will always get their leaders through a democratic electioneering process.

“Anybody or persons you see kicking against the party machinery are agents of distraction and destruction; they have an agenda which they are now letting Nigerians know. Their agenda is not to build, it is something different. This party belongs to us.

“I was in Imo. All I told my Deputy, Hon. Cairo Ejugbo was that I will have breakfast in his house in Agbor since it is on my way to Benin. Now look at the crowd of people here to have breakfast with us.

“Nobody forced anybody here, they came voluntarily because they believe in the PDP. They believe PDP is the only party they should belong to. When people go out; sent by others to destroy the party, gradually, their true colour will show and it is up to Nigerians to make up their minds who are the real people, who are the people who want PDP to grow and who are the people who want the party destroyed.

“You know even as we are standing here everybody has his own mind to do whatever he or she wishes. Political parties are voluntary. Majority of our party men around the country felt the need for us to come together to be reunited back to the ideals of 1999. So we set up a National Executive Council, NEC to review our situation before the party went to the Port-Harcourt convention.

“It was the NEC of the party that set up the NWC. If it can set up committee under my leadership and if the NEC makes a recommendation to bring solution to our party, why should I reject it? And the working committee of my party totally accepted the road maps that Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson took. I am here to bring solution to the party’s problems. I am not here to destroy the party.”

“Sometimes people pretend you’re a bad person, so they don’t feel guilty about the things they did to you.”

El-Rufai is a backstabber for saying Buhari has failed – Reno Omokri

Former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Electronic Media, Reno Omokri, has lashed out at the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai (calling him a backstabber), over his latest statement that President Muhammadu Buhari has failed.

A letter El-Rufai sent to the President in September 2016 where he claimed that both Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, had failed Nigerians emerged yesterday.

Reacting to the letter from the Kaduna State Governor, Omokri described El-Rufai as a “backbiter.”

The former Presidential aide, who took to his Facebook page wrote: “The mouth that Nasir El-Rufai used to bite Atiku Abubakar, then Olusegun Obasanjo then Umar Yar’Adua then Goodluck Jonathan has now been used to bite President Buhari!

“A backbiter must always bite and a backstabber must always stab! President Muhammadu Buhari should go and buy former President Obasanjo’s book, My Watch, to read what he said about El-Rufai. Said Obasanjo “I recognised his weaknesses; the worst being his inability to be loyal to anybody or any issue consistently for long, but only to Nasir el-Rufai.” Did Obasanjo lie? You be the judge!

“A man who cannot govern his state believes he can advise a man who does not know how to govern a nation.

“Do you see why we are where we are? Parts of Kaduna are like a war zone. The state has not achieved any feat economically.

“The governor is in a power tussle with Shehu Sani, a Senator from the state. Kaduna citizens complain about lopsided appointments at the state level. Yet, this busybody leaves all of that to teach the President his business. He cannot carry a rat yet he wants to carry an elephant!”

APC responsible for our ongoing crisis – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of causing its ongoing crisis.

In a communique issued at the end of its stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, the state capital and attended by the former Deputy National Chairman (South), Bode George, the party said the APC had continued to fester on the ongoing crisis in the PDP.

The National Vice Chairman (South West), Eddy Olafeso, who read the communique said: “We condemn emphatically the desperate politics that the APC has continued to prosecute in the nation.

“Its penchant for undermining institutions, compromising elections and also the sponsorship of crisis in our party by clandestinely providing logistic support to the Sheriff group.”

The party also reaffirmed its belief in the leadership of Ahmed Markafi as the national chairman of the party’s caretaker committee, saying that Ali Modu Sheriff was only being sponsored by the APC to cause distraction in the party.

The PDP urged members to stand firm and remain committed to actions that will reposition the party and return it to its glory.

The meeting was attended by the governorship candidate in the last election, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) and Southwest zonal secretary, Bunmi Jenyo.

Shocking! Muslim cleric stones three-year-old boy to death in Lagos

The police in Lagos have arrested a certain Muslim cleric, Kazeem Alimson, popularly known as Alfa, for allegedly killing a three-year-old boy, Chiagozie Okereke at the White Sand area of Isheri-Oshun, Ejigbo, Lagos.

A 15-year-old boy, Simon Kanu, confessed that he was paid N500 by the said Muslim cleric, Alimson to lure the baby to the cleric.

Simon said the baby was killed with a heavy stone in his presence.

Speaking with newsmen, the deceased’s mother explained that her baby went missing around 7.pm on Tuesday after she brought him out for his evening bath.

She said, “When I finished bathing the younger one, I went inside to get the wrapper to strap him in order to enable me bath the other child. But on getting outside, I didn’t see my baby again. The sister said he went into my neighbour’s house but I didn’t see him there and when I asked, they said he went out with Simon.

“I called my son’s name but there was no response. Later, we saw Simon that night, I asked him about the whereabouts of my son, he said he did not see him.

“Simon took my son, strangled him with his shirt and stoned him to death. He is my third child. I feel hurt. My heart is broken. I need justice.”

It was gathered that the Isheri Osun Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Emeodi Camilus, who got a tip-off, rushed to the scene and arrested the two suspects.

During interrogation, Simon, a primary six pupil revealed that the Alfa took him and the child to an uncompleted building where the boy was stoned to death.

“I went to site and I saw how he killed Chigozie,” he said.

Speaking further, Simon said, “He tied him up and was making incantation before hitting him with a stone three times. He said he would kill me if I told anybody. He also showed me his juju knife and that he would use it to kill me if I told anyone.”

But the cleric, however, denied the allegation, claiming that he is not a ritualist.

His words, “I was in my house sleeping when I heard people shouting. When I came out, I saw some policemen and when I asked, I was told that they saw a dead child.

“I went back inside, and 30 minutes later, the police came back and arrested me. I don’t know the boy and I have never spoken to him.”

At this point, the teenager cut in and said, “You are lying. He was giving me sign with his eyes not to talk. I saw you when you were using the stone to hit him until he died.”

The Divisional Police Officer of Isheri Osun revealed that the boy’s lifeless body was discovered in the suspect’s house after a search was conducted.

He said the suspect would soon be charged to court when investigation was concluded.

Islamic lecturer, Sheikh Mabera, to drag T.B Joshua to court for calling Jesus Christ ‘God’

Muslim cleric and front-line Islamic lecturer Sheikh Mabera, has threatened to drag renowned Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua to court.

In a message he shared on his Facebook wall, Mabera berated the pastor for regularly describing Jesus Christ as God.

He wrote, “I am filing a case to the Federal High Court of Nigeria against Pastor T.B. Joshua and co-pastors for speaking a lie against Jesus Christ by calling him God.”

The Islamic teacher said he regularly watched Joshua’s popular television channel Emmanuel TV, wondering why the prophet should address Jesus as God in front of thousands of his listeners.

He added, “I was completely aghast when I heard the ‘so-called’ Prophet T.B. Joshua of Emmanuel TV calling Jesus God in the presence of thousands of his audience, among whom were professors, doctors, reverend fathers and mothers, pastors and bishops.”

Sheikh Mabera said from his own findings, the Bible itself has so many evidence contradicting the belief that Jesus Christ is a spirit being.

Mabera, who owns an Islamic school where he trains other Muslims in the art of defending their faith, continued that T.B. Joshua and his ilk lacked “proper understanding” of Scriptural truths.

“As I was watching T.B. Joshua speaking through Emmanuel TV and his audience helplessly watching and listening to his accumulated lies and unfounded praise-singing directed at Jesus, I almost cried with automatic alacrity when he said that Jesus is Almighty God.

“My conclusion was that both TB Joshua and other Christians actually read their Bible without proper understanding of what they are reading”, he claimed.

The fiery Islamic advocate then quoted several Scriptures to support his claims that Jesus Christ was a “servant of God”, not God Himself.

“There are millions of facts from the Scriptures and other rational facts that authentically proved that Jesus does not have even the least qualification of being God,” he opined.

Mabera ended his post by declaring thaat Joshua was “deceiving and misguiding” his “innocent followers” with “preposterous lies.
“Let us meet in the court of law and debate it out. Enough is Enough”, he declared.

We regret making Modu Sheriff Party Chairman – Secondus

A former acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus has described the emergence of Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Leader of the party as a deadly mistake.

He said the party failed to make diligent background check on Sheriff before it ‘rushed’ to enthrone him as Acting Chairman.

PDP has been embroiled in serious crisis following the leadership tussle between the Sheriff-led faction and the Ahmed Markafi group who are all claimants to the chairmanship stool.

The Appeal Court had since recognized the Sheriff-led faction as the authentic caretaker committee of the party last month.

Reacting, however, Secondus said it was a mistake which he wished was never made, stressing that some persons were hell bent on causing confusion in the party.

He told Sun that, “Honestly speaking like I said, there is no human endeavor or no human organisation that has no error, only the spirit.

“We did not carry out due check on him (Sheriff) before rushing and made him the Acting Chairman.

“Unfortunately, you can see the hands of Esau, who is actually Jacob in the person of Sheriff. He came to destabilize the party. Obviously, everybody has seen it. He did it in Ondo State – and we lost; he did it in Edo State and we believe that even though we lost, we will get justice at the court.

“We know that forces are behind him just to destabilize our party. It is a common knowledge but we believe that we have God and justice will be done,” he said.
